Happy Birthday Little Willow Tree!

My birthday is tomorrow. Big ol’ 28. Yup, I said it. My age. I’m not ashamed! But it’s not my  birthday we are celebrating here today, its The Little Willow Tree’s!!

One year ago today I sat down and wrote out the first post that would become what Little Willow Tree is today. And I am so proud of my little blog.

It’s neat to see the changes over the past year and how much I have grown. From the photos…

{Ok, so I could still use some improvement}

To page views over the year…

Wow! Pretty amazing if you ask me.

{Thank you readers!!!}

I also noticed that I have done a lot more crafting and diy’s than sewing, which is essentially what the blog was all about when I first started. But it has grown into so much more than just my sewing adventures. My ‘diy’ tags are quickly catching up with my handmade tags…

Not to mention making my posts more legit by adding a signature, then changing it to something a little more me

So; when are we going to get the party started??

Right now!!

To celebrate the blog’s birthday, and mine as well, I want to give my readers a present. It’s to show you how much I appreciate you and what you have done for me and The Little Willow Tree. Cause let’s face it; I could blog and blog and blog all I want, but it wouldn’t be what it is today {and what it will be tomorrow} with out you!

And because it’s a present, it’s a surprise… so no revealing what the present is here, nope. You’ll have to wait till it comes in the mail!

All you have to do is leave a comment wishing Little Willow Tree a Happy Birthday! The first 10 commenters will receive a present from me! I’m celebrating all week long!

Thank you for all of your support over the year and for helping me make this blog into something bigger than I had envisioned a year ago!

Happy Birthday Little Willow Tree!

*Sunday I will email the first 10 people to comment to get your contact information*

P.S. A very big announcement is going to be made on December 1st so keep an eye peeled. You wont wanna miss it!!!

SAH Cloth Diapering Mama Giveaway!

As some of you know, cloth diapering has been a huge staple in our home for the past few months. I jumped on the bandwagon after I had Oliver, but researched the heck out of what cloth diapering was all about right after he was born and finally took the plunge. Now I cloth diaper full time at home and when out.

One of the things that goes hand in hand with cloth diapering is using cloth wipes. Lets just face it; there is nothing better than wiping baby’s booty with soft flannel wipes! I was so inspired that I started to make my own set. Then I just made it another treasure to put on Etsy.

When I was researching cloth diapering, I came across the blog SAH Cloth Diapering Mama it was full of information on cloth diapers so I started to follow. Whats so great about this blog is that the owner is just like me – a WAHM just trying to figure it all out. And though I don’t blog as often as I would like about my cloth diapering journey {believe it or not, we haven’t really had any issues!}, she and I are pretty passionate about saving money, saving our earth, and saving our baby’s bums one cloth diaper at a time. So when I saw that she was looking for people to host a giveaway for I poked my head up and said ‘me, me!’. I am giving away a set of {12} amazingly soft and splendidly cute organic cloth wipes!

Check out her post for entry details, rules, and more information!

National Sewing Month Recap & Giveaway Winner Announcement

September was National Sewing Month and there was a lot of fun and informational things going on here on The Little Willow Tree. Missed what we were up to? Well here is a little recap for yah!

I vowed to sew {at least} one project a day for the entire month of September!

And for the last two days

Wow! I am pretty proud of myself to sew 30 items in one month. And I really did sew one project each day.. even when we went out of town for three days to my brothers wedding! Thanks to my bestie.

Speaking of bestie, we stayed at her house while out of town and I taught her how to make a tote bag! I made her one, then she showed me all she learned by making me one. Take a looksie!

She did such a good job! A lot of her downfalls were not knowing the lingo. Good thing I was there and good thing for my post on Sewing Vocab and Their Meanings!

Once you got the lingo down you could find some great tutorials from a list I put together and links to some great blogs for inspiration. And if you still needed help with some sewing, I gave you a calendar of classes at Beverlys Fabrics.

As if that wasn’t enough, I celebrated National Sewing Month by sharing a couple of tips and ideas for you all to eat up.

I also left the house not once, not twice, but five times with out nursing pads! On one occasion, I gave you all a quick fix to something that could be pretty embarrassing.

A lot of awesome things happened this month, too. I added lots of new items to my Etsy shops, changed the design of a few of my items, and landed shelf space in two local stores! I am so very happy! That puts me in three local shops so far.

Aside from all of that fun and neat things going on I also hosted a Sew Swap! I had a huge turnout and am so excited to get everyone linked up so we can all share and see each one’s creation and experience. This is my first ever swap as a host and participant! Look for the post and linky party on the Sew Swap in a week.

One last awesome thing was a giveaway I had all month long. If you commented on any post tagged ‘National Sewing Month’ you were entered to win and vintage grab bag put together by me!

I have gathered up all of the commenters {only one comment was counted per person for the giveaway} and a winner was chosen at random.

Congratulations Sarah Pinault!

An email will be sent soon for a mailing address.

Thank you all for your participation and support! I am truly blessed to have such a huge bloggie support and cherish each and every one of you! Please share your adventures below for National Sewing Month and if you’re on Twitter and/or Instagram be sure to use hashtag #nationalsewingmonth so I can see what you were all up to!

Can’t wait to plan for next year!

Sewn Project #1 & Giveaway Announcement

In celebration of National Sewing Month, I am going to sew a creation every day of the month {among other fun things}! Tonight I made a wee wee hut, since I already had to make more for Baby Bee Green {someone bought all of my wee wee huts the other day!}.

I love, love, love these bikes! I wish I had more of this fabric!

If you’d like to purchase one or more of these, you can find them at Baby Bee Green in Atascadero or head on over to Oliver’s Treasure Chest.

::Now for the fun stuff::

As you could probably tell, I love giveaways. I love entering them and I love having them. Its exciting to select something to just give away, especially if I made it. So because its National Sewing Month, the prize is a vintage sewing notions grab bag put together by me!

All you have to do is comment on a post tagged ‘National Sewing Month’ to be entered. One comment per post. Giveaway ends September 30 at 11:59pm PST. Winner will be chosen at random and announced the following day. {You may or may not receive this exact grab bag}

Happy Sewing!!

National Sewing Month | September

Oh how I love the month of September. We transition from summer into fall. The skies are a different color, the trees changes their hues, and its the approach of my favorite holiday in November; my birthday! Haha, just kidding. It’s Thanksgiving.

Another awesome thing about September is that it’s National Sewing Month. And sewing is what I absolutely love to do. Thank goodness for President Ronald Reagan who declared September National Sewing Month in 1982 ‘in recognition of the importance of home sewing for our Nation.’ Couldn’t of said it better myself!

I have a month full of things planned and I am excited to share something with you all every day of the month.

Things to look forward to:

A handmade, sewn creation by me every day of this month, posted every day on the blog

A sewing related giveaway

Tons of sewing information posted on the blog

A sewing swap

I will be teaching a newbie sewer the ins and outs of their machine and the completion of a sewing project

Special discount on my handmade sewn items in one of my shops {restrictions apply}

A sewing party hosted by me

If you would like to participate in the sewing swap, please email me at willow.little {at} gmail {dot} com.

If you would like to participate in the sewing party please call, text, snail mail or email me.

If there is any other way you would like to contribute or participate, please contact me. And if you’re hosting something fun on your blog for National Sewing Month too, let me know! I would love to link you up.

National Sewing Month

Happy Sewing!
